Finally an update and a goodie

The filming of Reflection went amazingly well for those who wonder! I have been super busy since, mainly editing and getting other projects out of the way that I neglected updating this page.

It is with great pleasure that I unveil the first official trailer for Reflection!

It feels funny that the last time I updated this blog I was in the pre-production stage and now I'm done the whole thing and I got a trailer to show! Time flies!

Reflection update

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the delay in posting, I have been very busy with the pre-production of my next masterpiece!  Here are some good news:

* Reflection will be shot on HD with 35 mm lenses, which promises a very slick look!

* The casting is 95% done, only waiting the confirmation of two performers

* I might get the permission to use a very special musical track!

The cast and crew meeting is scheduled for September 6th and I should get the final confirmation re: locations next week.  Also, stay tuned as I will need extras for two scenes, so it will be your chance to be immortalized on film!

That's it for now.

Reflection, week 2

The first version of the Reflection script is done.  There might be a rewrite, but I don't think anything major will be changed.

Goals for this week: get locations, get tentative shooting dates, get the confirmation from the special F/X makeup guy and get the ball rolling in terms of makeup & costume design...

I also have to get the final casting confirmations for the smaller parts.

Maumau the busy bee is buzz, buzz, buzzing away!! :D

Casting, week 1

The first week of casting for Reflection went really well.  So far, everybody is enthusiastic about the project, which is great!! :D

I have the three main players secured at 95%.

Sandra Lombardi, my long-time film partner (those who have seen Recessed know what I'm talking about) is willing to come on board to help me plan out / co-produce / DOP the project!!  I couldn't get better news!

I'm putting the finishing touch on the script and will start the final rewrite this weekend. I'll make sure to keep you all posted once I get the final confirmations from some key players!

The shooting might be pushed back to mid-September to allow for a more thorough pre-production, but luckily it shouldn't delay too much the project.

That's it for today folks!  I might get started on the post-prod of The Portrait tonight depending on what time I'll finish the script.

New project!

Due to more or less serendipitous circumstances, I was recently invited to join Matthew Saliba's Frankenstein Unlimited project!  After toying with two different ideas, I finally settled for a gory psychological drama that is tentatively titled Reflection. Needless to say, I am extremely ecstatic about this project!

I have just completed the first draft of the script and let me tell you, this will be my biggest project so far!  The cast will include 9 characters ( 4 mains and 5 supportives)  and the story will take place in 5 locations.  Yes, there's gonna be a big pre-production in perspective!  I'm starting the casting this week, so stay tuned for an in-dept casting report near the end of the week.

Here is my tentative schedule:
August - pre-production month
September - production a.k.a. the shooting of the film
October - post-production
November - deadline to hand in the project

I wanna keep the exact details of the project secret for now, but here is an overview of what the Frankenstein Unlimited project is about:
It is a anthology-style feature film composed of ten short films made by established and up-and-coming Quebec horror filmmakers.  The short films, which have a limited length of 15 minutes, must center around one of the main theme of Frankenstein.  My short film will be taking a more metaphorical approach, dealing with some of the theme from the book instead of a litteral adaptation.

That's it for now! More info coming soon!

The Portrait wraps!

The Portrait, a short film loosely based on an Edgar Allan Poe novel, is shot and ready for post-production.  The shooting took one day, Thursday July 24th.

The short film starring Arielle Paindavoine and Matthew Saliba should be ready for a fall release.
